Rawalpindi: His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS) along with Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a high-level Jordanian civil and military delegation. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), received the royal guests.
His Majesty was given a detailed briefing on GIDS's structure, capabilities, and product portfolio, highlighting Pakistan's achievements in indigenous defence production, technological innovation, and avenues for enhanced defence cooperation with Jordan.
Later, King Abdullah II visited the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan's Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, were also present.
The royal guest and other dignitaries witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise showcasing multi-domain operations, including conventional and air firepower, coordinated manoeuvres, spectrum warfare capabilities, and the operational employment of multi-purpose drones.
King Abdullah II praised the high standards of training, professionalism, and preparedness demonstrated by the participating troops and aircrews.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan's deep respect and affection for King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people, stating that the visit reflects enduring friendship, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to peace and development.
COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's strong defence partnership with Jordan and reiterated Islamabad's commitment to strengthening military cooperation for regional stability and mutual progress.
Earlier, His Majesty conferred the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree upon the COAS in recognition of his outstanding services and contributions to advancing military ties between Jordan and Pakistan.
King Abdullah II's two-day visit marks a significant milestone in reinforcing the historic bonds of fraternity and brotherhood between the two nations.
