KP Food Authority Seizes Unwholesome Meat, Expired Beverages in Province-Wide Operations

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS and HFA) carried out major enforcement operations across the province, targeting substandard and unhygienic food items. During the operations, unwholesome meat and expired beverages were seized in Mardan, Lower Dir, and Dera Ismail Khan.According to KPFS and HFA, a checkpoint operation on Nowshera Road in Mardan recovered 300 kilograms of unwholesome meat from a vehicle, which was immediately destroyed, and heavy fines were imposed on the owners. In Lower Dir, a joint operation with the district administration and Livestock Department at Timergara Bazaar recovered over 300 kilograms of unhygienic meat from a butcher shop. The shop was sealed, an FIR registered, and the owner taken into custody.In Dera Ismail Khan, the food safety team raided a warehouse in Paroa Bazaar, seizing 1,100 litres of expired beverages. The warehouse owner was also fined for violating food safety regulations.Director General KPFS and HFA, Wasif Saeed, lauded the teams' efforts and reiterated that strict legal action would continue against anyone compromising public health, warning that indiscriminate action would be taken against sellers of unsafe food.
