Swat: Chief Secretary KP Shahab Ali Shah visited Swat and reviewed rescue operation in connection with river Swat tragedy near Mingora bypass.
He announced Rs15 lac each for the families of deceased of River Swat tragedy.
58 out of 85 persons have been rescued alive.
He suspended officers of administration and district officer of Rescue.
He said inquiry committee should review the incident and those found negligent be awarded punishment. Due to bad weather and lack of time helicopter could not reach the scene.
He held 10 bodies have been recovered while further search operation is underway.
The deputy commissioner Swat said 10 dead bodies out of 18 persons swept away by the flash floods have so far been recovered from river.
The incident occurred while tourists were having breakfast along the riverbank when they were caught off guard after heavy rains upstream caused an unexpected and rapid increase in water flow.
Swat administration sealed the hotel where the affected tourists had taken breakfast. People of the areas protested against this step strongly.
Funeral prayers of 8 members of affected family were offered in Sialkot.
