Peshawar: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has successfully completed the final phase of a major livestock-based economic empowerment project aimed at strengthening livelihoods of vulnerable communities in Pakistan.The project, titled 'Economic Empowerment of Vulnerable Households in Pakistan through Livestock Provision 2025-26,' was implemented to enhance income opportunities and economic resilience among disadvantaged households.Under the third and final phase of the initiative, 500 cattle were distributed among vulnerable families in three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including 200 cattle in Charsadda, 150 in Mardan, and 150 in Nowshera. Each beneficiary household also received two bags of silage to support livestock feeding.Alongside livestock distribution, 40 training sessions were conducted to enhance the technical knowledge of beneficiary families. These sessions focused on livestock management, animal health, and improved breeding practices, and were delivered i n collaboration with the district livestock departments.Through the initiative, 500 households received direct assistance, benefiting a total of 3,570 individuals. The program aims to improve household incomes, strengthen food security, and promote long-term livelihood stability for vulnerable communities.The project was implemented by the Peace and Development Organization in coordination with the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and relevant district administrations.Officials said the initiative reflects the humanitarian vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support vulnerable populations, promote self-reliance, and encourage sustainable development through livelihood-based programs.
