Lahore:Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, has stated that laborers play a vital role in the development of society, and it is the religious, human, and constitutional responsibility of the government to protect their rights. He said the government policies should bring prosperity to the lives of workers.In his statement on International Labour Day, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that a hardworking person is a friend of Allah, and although laborers significantly contribute to society's progress, unfortunately, they are also the most deprived of their rights. The capitalist and feudal classes consider exploiting workers as their entitlement, he said. The parties that come into power through the votes of the working class forget them once they enter the assemblies and instead serve their own interests and those of the privileged and capitalist classes, he said.Hafiz Naeemur Rehman emphasized that it is the government's religious, human, and constitutional duty to safeguard t he rights of laborers. The ruling classes should prioritize the welfare of workers,he said.He said Jamaat-e-Islami has always raised its voice for labor rights and has included the rights of the oppressed classes in its party manifesto. He urged the federal and provincial governments to move beyond statements and take practical steps for the welfare of laborers. Government policies should lead to prosperity in workers' lives. The state should ensure free education in top institutions and healthcare facilities for laborers, their families, and their children, he concluded.
