Islamabad: Legal notice has been issued against extension in the service period of chairman NAB Lt Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmad. Legal notice has been sent to president, prime minister and federal law minister. The notice has been sent by lawyer Azhar Siddique.
It has been said in the context of notice that the extension in service of chairman NAB is illegal and unconstitutional. The decision for extension runs contrary to the norms of merit and transparency.
The decision for extension is violation of the criterion of fit and proper person set by Supreme Court (SC). The authorities failed in providing material related to legal justification and merit in connection with extension.
The decision for extension is grave violation of basic human rights enshrined in article 4, 9 and 19-A of the constitution. Appointments on public offices should be made as per law instead of personal likes and dislikes of the executive.
The extension in service of chairman NAB runs contrary to UN convention related to anti corruption. The notification issued on extension in service be withdrawn forthwith . If the demands are not met then superior courts will be resorted to against extension in service.
