Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) while announcing decision in favor of contract employees of Population Welfare Department has approved the pleas of family welfare workers and other employees for their regularization.

Justice Javed Iqbal Wains maintained the right of employees for regularization is still there and the rights given to employees before cancellation of act don't stand abolished.

Justice Javed while issuing a 24-page detailed decision on the petitions of petitioner Farhat Perveen and other employees declared it judicial precedent

The court while nullifying May 29, 2024 of minutes of meeting of scrutiny committee declared the department's December 28, 2024 order regarding rejection of regularization of the employees unlawful.

The court maintained in the decision the respective employees are contract employees and not project employees and they remained no more employees of project following the shifting of project to non development side.

The status of employees stands changed with the creation of 3000 new posts while they are performing duty since more than one decade. Their claim cannot be rejected on the basis of merely revocation of act.

The court while expressing resentment on not giving relief to the employees despite court's repeated orders, remarked unnecessary litigation took place for not correct implementation by the department.

The court while sending the case again to scrutiny committee directed the cases of the employees be forwarded to competent authority for regularization and all the proceedings be completed within 90 days.

The court restrained from initiating any negative proceedings against employees till the implementation of decision.

The court ordered to maintain the continuity of the services of the employees.
