Lahore: Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh of Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared the advertisement of tobacco and betal nut illegal.

The court while declaring government notification regarding ban on advertisement in order dismissed the petition.

It was said in court's decision that according to government advertisement of tobacco, cigarette and betel nut will yield negative results. Protecting public health and creating healthy environment is constitutional requirement. No permanent constitutional right for advertisement of tobacco products is there.

There is no apprehension of illegal trade due to ban on advertisement.

The court rejected the constitutional objection on not resorting to Council of Common Interests saying no illegal thing was found in government notification. Every citizen has constitutional right to do business or trade. LHC while declaring government notification regarding ban on advertisement of tobacco in order dismissed the petition.
