LHC judge recuses himself from hearing petition against Anti Terrorism Amendment Bill-2026

Lahore: Justice Amjad Pervaiz of Lahore High Court (LHC) has recused from hearing petition filed against approval of Anti Terrorism Amendment Bill -2026 by Punjab Assembly (PA).

The petitioner has requested the court to declare amendment bill illegal.

The petition has been filed by Yousaf Wain advocate in LHC taking the plea the Anti Terrorism Amendment Bill -2026 is illegal.

The court has been requested through the petition to declare the amendment bill approved by PA illegal.

During the hearing of the petition Justice Amjad Pervaiz said when this bill was being prepared then he was advocate general Punjab.

The court returned the file to the Chief Justice LHC.

Yousaf Wain Advocate, the petitioner, had prayed to the court to declare the legislation unconstitutional, arguing that an article of the bill reading that the identity of the judge, prosecutors and witnesses would not be disclosed was in conflict with the constitution

According to the petitioner this clause is in clash with the constitution. Therefore, the amendment bill should be declared illegal.
