Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has been moved against imposition of heavy levy on petroleum products and minor decrease in the prices of petrol.
A miscellaneous petition has been filed in LHC in this regard.
The miscellaneous petition has been submitted by Azhar Siddique head of Judicial Activism Panel here Monday.
The petition said government is receiving levy tax Rs 125 per liter on petrol and Rs 100 per liter on diesel.
Farming community and laborers have been affected directly due to expensive petrol and diesel.
Government has made minor decrease in the prices of petroleum products.
According to petitioner government has no mechanism for increase or reduction in the prices of petroleum products. Therefore, recovery of heavy levy on petroleum products be stopped.
Court should order to evolve mechanism in regard to increase and reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
