LHC moved for stopping implementation, declaring Kite flying act-2025 illegal

Lahore: A miscellaneous petition has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) for stopping implementation of Kite Flying Act-2025 and declaring it illegal.

The petition was filed by Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood through his counsel Azhar Siddique advocate.

The petition said Kite Flying Act -2025 has been approved against the constitution.

According to petitioner he as member of Punjab Assembly has already tabled calling attention notice in Punjab Assembly.

The petition further said ban is imposed on kite flying as per routine. This is non- bailable offence. It is feared Basant celebration may cause financial and life loss to citizens.

Formal notifications have also been issued for making kites and strings in streets and mohallas which can pose threat to public security.

The petitioner told the court several countries including China have imposed complete ban on basant in the face of hazards.

Implementing kite flying act -2025 despite it is against the public interest.

The court has been prayed to declare kite flying act-2025 null and void .

The court should issue order for stopping implementation of act and all notifications issued under it till the final decision of the case, the petitioner prayed.
