LHC orders for appointment of woman candidate as sub inspector police

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing written order on contempt of court plea against IG Police Punjab Abdul Karim has ordered for immediate appointment of woman candidate on the post of sub inspector. Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh of LHC has issued 12-page written decision on the petition of Syeda Aamra Batool which has been declared court's precedent.

The court made it clear in its decision it is constitutional obligation of administration and state institutions to implement court's orders in letter and spirit. The court maintained that the conditional appointment order from the police department was not real compliance of court's order.

It was further said the decision of high court has taken final form following the dismissal of the intra court appeal. The LHC while giving 30 days' time to Police department for implementation of court's decision has directed IG Punjab police to file compliance report with Deputy Registrar Judicial within one month.

The court also maintained the woman candidate will be entitled to file contempt of court plea again in the event of non-implementation of court's order within stipulated period. The court while giving time in connection with appointment of sub inspector wrapped up contempt of court plea against IG Punjab police.
