Lahore:Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered NADRA to correct last digit in the matter of showing male as female due to National Identity Card (NIC) number of citizen.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani dismissed appeal filed by NADRA and upheld decision of subordinate courts.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked woman was recorded earlier in the record of citizen Sajid Maqsood. Later it was corrected.

NADRA issued new NIC but it did not change last digit.

The sex of the citizen was shown in record of different departments as woman. Error cannot be kept permanently on administrative or technical basis.

He gave these remarks on Thursday.

The court ordered previous record be shifted to new number so that second identity is not made. Need is there for amendment in law related to issuance of NIC number.

The court ordered NADRA to file implementation report within 60 days.
