LHC seeks reply from Punjab govt regarding advertisement carrying picture of Nawaz Sharif

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reply from government regarding advertisements carrying picture of Nawaz Sharif.

The petitions against issuance of government advertisements with the pictures of Nawaz Sharif by Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Farooq Haider.

The court expressed resentment over non filing reply by chief secretary and other respondents.

The court remarked during the hearing of the case " you give this respect to the courts. You are not filing reply. You put court's orders on toe of shoe.

The court made it clear if reply is not filed on next hearing then the decision in regard to petitions will be given.

The court summoned Advocate General (AG) Punjab forthwith and directed him to tell the court as to why the state respondents did not file reply despite court's orders.

The petitioners were of view advertisements carrying Nawaz Sharif picture were issued by using money collected from people against taxes for political purposes which is against law and constitution.

The petitioners requested the court to declare such advertisements illegal and impose ban on them.
