LHC wraps up petition seeking recovery of person for fear of his killing in police encounter

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has wrapped up petition for stopping killing of citizen Mukhtar Ahmad in likely police encounter and his recovery declaring it unnecessary.

The petition filed by the petitioner Ulfat Bibi came up for hearing before Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Friday.

The petitioner has taken plea in the petition CCD Sargodha police arrested her husband at the time when they both were going to participate in funeral procession.

The petitioner told the court Mukhtar Ahmad was on bail in different cases. However Police took him into their custody despite it. It is feared Mukhtar Ahmad can be killed in likely police encounter.

Ulfat Bibi requested the court CCD police be stopped from conducting likely fake police encounter besides issuing order for immediate recovery of her husband.

SP Nasir Abbas of CCD informed the court overall 26 cases are registered against Mukhtar Ahmad in different police stations. He is on judicial remand at present.

The court remarked after hearing the arguments of the respondents that the concerned person is on judicial remand therefore the plea for his recovery is unnecessary.
