Manchester: The Jammu Kashmir Self Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) held a special gathering in Manchester to mark International Human Rights Day. The meeting was organised by JKSDMI Founding Chairman, Raja Najabat Hussain Sitara-e-Pakistan, and brought together senior British parliamentarians, Kashmiri activists, community leaders, and international dignitaries.Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Afzal Khan MP CBE, Miss Farrukh Avais, District Education Officer Mirpur; JKSDMI Patron Sardar Abdur Rahman Khan; JKSDMI UK Chairperson Cllr Naila Sharif; Administration Director Harry Boota; Former Lord Mayor of Manchester Cllr Abid Latif Chohan, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan; Farzana Afzal, General Secretary JKSDMI Greater Manchester; Ms Sabra Naheed Chaudhary, General Secretary APWA North of England; Dr Mohammad Younas Perwaz, Mrs Ghazala Chaudhary, Hamid Ali Khan, and other dignitaries.Raja Najabat Hussain welcomed guests and expressed gratitude for the continued support of British parli amentarians and the JKSDMI team. He praised their dedication in raising international awareness about the plight of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Participants commended Raja Najabat Hussain for his decades-long global advocacy and called on the British Government, the European Union, and the United Nations to intensify pressure on India to end human rights violations and to help pursue a peaceful resolution in line with UN Security Council Resolutions.Addressing the gathering, Dr. Afzal Khan MP CBE highlighted the ongoing work of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir, which has collaborated closely with Raja Najabat Hussain and JKSDMI since its inception. He noted that, through the efforts of APPG Chair Barrister Imran Hussain MP and fellow parliamentarians, a significant debate was recently held in Westminster Hall to mark Human Rights Day-attended by more than 25 MPs and culminating in a resolution supporting the rights of the Kashmiri people.Dr. Khan r eaffirmed the British parliamentary group's commitment to supporting Kashmiris' Right to Self-Determination and ensuring their human rights are internationally recognised. The event also celebrated the recent Global Ambassador Award presented to Raja Najabat Hussain by the Diplomatic Insight Group, an international think-tank. Raja Najabat Hussain dedicated the honour to the martyrs of Kashmir, the Kashmiri nation, and the JKSDMI team.During the ceremony, Dr. Afzal Khan MP CBE presented an award to Miss Farrukh Avais, District Education Officer Mirpur, in recognition of her service and contributions.The meeting concluded with renewed pledges from all attendees to continue advocating for justice, peace, and human rights for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
