Marriage of free will, change of religion case: SC allows girl to go with her husband

Karachi: During the hearing of parents petition against the change of religion and marriage of her own free will by their daughter Supreme Court (SC) has allowed the daughter to go with her husband besides ordering the police to provide protection to the couple.

The petition filed by the parents against the change of religion by their daughter and contracting marriage of her own free will came up for hearing in SC Karachi registry Thursday.

SC bench presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi heard the case.

The lady appeared in the court on the order of SC.

CJP inquired from woman has she contracted marriage of her own free will.

The woman replied yes she has got married of her own free will. There is no pressure on me.

The SC inquired from the woman what was her age when she got married.

The woman replied her age was 28 at the time of marriage.

The CJP remarked " your father says your religion was got changed forcibly and under pressure.

The woman replied she changed her religion on her own free will. I am happy with my husband. Father continues to get register case. He threatens too.

The CJP while moving to the woman said now nothing will happen. No one will give threat.

The SC allowed the woman to go with her husband.

The SC ordered police to provide protection to the couple.
