Islamabad: The 67th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, was observed Friday.
Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed was born in Hoshiarpur city of the East Punjab, on 22nd July in 1914.
In August 1958, he was assigned to launch an offensive against Indian forces in the area of Lakshmipur of sector of erstwhile, East Pakistan.
Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed displayed extraordinary bravery and unwavering resolve as he led his troops in a daring assault against enemy forces.
Despite being critically wounded, he continued to fight with exceptional valour and successfully accomplished his mission.
His heroic actions earned him the nation's highest military honour-Nishan-e-Haider-a symbol of unparalleled gallantry and supreme sacrifice.
Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu have paid rich tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider on his martyrdom day.
Quran Khawani and special prayers were also held on the 67th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed.
On the occasion, the religious scholars said that the blood of martyr never goes in vain. They said Shaheed Major Tufail Muhammad was a brave son of the soil who will forever live in the hearts of the people.
They said that these shining stars of Pakistan, who laid down their lives for the honour of the nation, undoubtedly deserve the highest respect and reverence.
