Lahore: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz has directed deputy commissioners and assistant commissioner to stay in field and monitor rivers, canals and nullahs. CM Punjab in a statement has appealed to the people not to go near rivers, canals and seasonal nullahs in Monsoons and flood situation and not to take risk of bathing therein.
She said people should adopt precautionary measures during the rains and the parents should stop the children from taking bath in canals and flood water. She appealed to people to stay away from such buildings and homes of which roofs are near to collapse. She appealed to the people to evacuate from fragile roofs and walls and dilapidated buildings. She expressed sorrow over loss of lives during rain related different incidents .
She directed deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and other institutions to conduct monitoring of dilapidated buildings besides ensuring monitoring of rivers, canals and nullahs.
She ordered to ensure immediate drainage of rain water from streets, bazaars, roads and under passes. She also directed that smooth traffic flow be ensured during the rains. CM Punjab said she salutes every officer and subordinate who is discharging duty during rains. The citizens of Gujarat paid tribute to CM Punjab on completion of drainage of water within three hours assembled therein due to heavy rains.
