Rawalpindi: Judge Malik Ijaz Asif of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has adjourned till September 12 hearing of 12 separate cases of May 9 violent demonstrations, siege and arson of important installations, public and private properties attack on GHQ and police personnel against 498 accused including Shah Mehmood Qureshi without any proceedings.The alleged approvers of these cases including former deputy speaker Punjab Assembly (PA) Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and former member PA Umar Tanvir Butt have backed out from their statements.Expressing their ignorance of the statement under section 164 of criminal procedure took the plea before the court the statement under 164 which is attributed to them is fake and they have no relevance with this statement.Former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Azam Swati, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Umar Tanvir Butt and other accused were present on the occasion of hearing of cases in Adiala jail.Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and Umar Tanvir Butt took the plea in the court that we have not given any such statement in writing or verbal before any magistrate by becoming approvers against PTI former chairman,Former chairman PTI gave lesson of peaceful struggle always and there is no reality of our statements in regard to grave allegations against him.Court made the petition filed through Muhammad Faisal Malik part of record.Following May 9 incident Rawalpindi Police registered case No 708 in RA Bazar police station, case no 563 in police station city, case No 836 in police station cantt, case no 759 in police station 836, case No 759 in police station Race course, case No 2106 in police station New town, case No 2076 in police station Sadiq Abad, case No 981 in police station civil line, case No 914 in police station Morgah, case No 397 in police station Sadar Wah, case No 940 in police station Taxila.Former chairman PTI was arrested on January 8.It is pertinent to mention here that court had already ordered to discharge name of Bushra Bibi, wife of former chairman PTI.Tal king to media men Muhammad Faisal Malik counsel for PTI along with other lawyers said today lawyers were not allowed to go inside jail.Upon it the lawyers told the court after hearing they were not allowed to go inside Adiala jail. Therefore, court should issue detailed order on the attitude of jail administration.New forward movement in May 9 cases is this two accused have backed out from their statements. Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and Tanvir Butt have expressed their ignorance about their statements taken under 164. The two accused were silent due to fear and harassment so far.
