Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, while welcoming ceasefire between India and Pakistan, has stressed the need for early resumption of composite dialogue process to find out a permanent solution to all issues including the core issue of Kashmir.

In a statement, issued on Sunday, the DFP Acting Chairman Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that the leadership on both sides agreed to immediate ceasefire after days of deadly escalation that brought the two nuclear armed nations at the brink of war.

"It was good to see that better sense finally prevailed and we hope that the US mediated ceasefire will lead to resumption of the long-stalled composite dialogue process aimed at addressing the core issue of Kashmir and other key bilateral issues that have been bedeviling relations between the two countries for decades", he maintained.

Describing the long-pending Kashmir issue of mother of all disputes, the DFP leader made it clear that the road to peace and prosperity in South Asia passes through Kashmir.

Highlighting the centrality of the Kashmir dispute in the wider regional context, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar said, "The Kashmir conflict is central to the region's geopolitics, acting as a primary source of tension and acrimony between the two nuclear neighbors".

He said that Indian leadership needs to realize that dialogue was the only civilized way to resolve disputes.

Reiterating his party's stance on the issue of Kashmir, Saghar said that the Kashmiri leadership across the political spectrum has always sought and supported a meaningful dialogue between the two countries aimed at finding a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem that in addition to consuming three generations of Kashmir continues to pose a threat to regional peace, citing the recent dangerous standoff between India and Pakistan.

Saghar also appreciated the Pakistan's political and military leadership for demonstrating exceptional wit and wisdom during the highly challenging situation.

He said that Pakistan's befitting response to Indian aggression has forced the India's warmongering regime seek help from the US and other friendly countries in arranging ceasefire with Pakistan.

Terming it as a great achievement for Pakistan, Saghar said that be it a battle ground or diplomacy Pakistan has virtually established its dominance on both fronts. The Pakistan's unprecedented victory, he said, has generated a fresh wave of optimism amongst the Kashmiris on both sides of ceasefire line.
