Islamabad: Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Acting Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), has welcomed the historic joint defence agreement concluded between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Trkiye in Makkah, describing it as an important development towards strengthening mutual trust, solidarity, defence cooperation and collective security among Muslim countries.
In a statement, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar extended his separate congratulations to the leadership and people of all three brotherly countries on this historic occasion. He said that the agreement comes at a time when the Muslim world is in greater need than ever of unity, consultation, peace, stability and collective security.
He said that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Trkiye are three important and influential countries of the Muslim world, and that enhanced defence cooperation among them carries significant importance not only for the three countries but also for peace, stability and security across the region. He expressed hope that the agreement would mark the beginning of a new era of cooperation and pave the way for closer coordination and joint initiatives among Muslim countries.
Mehmood Ahmed Saghar emphasized that the fundamental objective of stronger defence cooperation should be the promotion of peace, protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and safeguarding national and collective security. He stressed that Muslim countries should stand by one another while resolving differences through dialogue and diplomatic means.
He further stated that the Muslim world's united, principled and effective role is also urgently needed for the peaceful and just resolution of longstanding and disputed issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. A collective voice of Muslim countries can play an important role in promoting the principles of peace, justice, human rights and the right to self-determination at the international level.
The Acting Chairman of JKDFP expressed his best wishes to the leadership and people of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Trkiye, and prayed that this historic agreement would become a source of peace, stability, security and prosperity for the three brotherly countries and the entire Muslim Ummah.
