Islamabad: Members of parliament with properties and business running into billion of rupees have too demanded increase in their salaries.

Government and opposition members of parliament met speaker National Assembly (NA) and demanded enhancement in their salaries stressing recommendations of speaker's conference be implemented. Salaries and perks of members of all the four provincial assemblies are higher than members of NA.

According to parliamentary sources the elected representatives are perturbed over rising inflation. Members of parliament have formally demanded for increase in their salaries and allowances.

Treasury and opposition parliamentarians are on same page on the matter of increase in salary.

Speaker NA has sought details of budget from accounts branch of NA secretariat.

Speaker assured them of talking to prime minister and finance minister on the matter of salaries.

If government nods yes then bill regarding increase in salaries of members of assembly , speaker and deputy speaker will be presented in National Assembly.

Member of National Assembly is now drawing salary and TA/DA to the tune of Rs 218000 per month. Air tickets of Rs 3 lac are also provided to them in one year.
