Islamabad: On the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, the President of Pakistan reaffirmed the country’s commitment to promoting understanding, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among all citizens and nations.

The President highlighted that the principles of tolerance are deeply rooted in Islam, emphasizing compassion, justice, and respect for all humanity. He also recalled the vision of Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, for a nation where people of every faith and cultural background could live together in harmony, equality, and dignity.

Referencing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Pakistan’s Constitution, the President stressed that freedom of religion and the management of religious institutions are fundamental rights, while socio-religious exploitation must be actively prevented.

He noted the government’s efforts, including the ‘Interfaith Harmony Policy’ and ‘Strategy of Religious Tolerance,’ the passage of the National Commission for Minorities’ Rights Bill, 2025, and the formation of the parliamentary ‘Minorities Caucus,’ aimed at safeguarding minority rights and promoting interfaith harmony.

The President urged all citizens, particularly youth, to oppose prejudice, discrimination, and hate, and called upon religious scholars, minority representatives, and the media to educate society about love, tolerance, brotherhood, and unity.

He concluded with a prayer for strengthening tolerance, compassion, and humanity to build a more peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
