Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called on authorities to immediately halt the harassment of Kashmiris studying or working in various parts of India following the recent Delhi blast.

Addressing the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz expressed deep concern over reports of Kashmiris being singled out and questioned simply because of their identity. He noted that such incidents have been reported from Himachal Pradesh and other areas, describing the ongoing harassment as ‘very disturbing.’

Mirwaiz also criticized raids on the Kashmir Times office in Jammu, saying press freedom is increasingly being targeted. He warned that treating dissenting voices as ‘anti-India’ threatens democracy, emphasizing that a free and fair media is essential for democratic values.
