Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar on Thursday demanded justice for Raza Ali, a young trader who was abducted and later found dead.
He visited the victim’s residence in Bahadurabad, where he met the deceased’s father, Mir Hussain, and other family members to offer condolences and express solidarity with them.
Speaking on the occasion, he demanded Sindh government and police to arrest those responsible for the abduction and killing of young trader Mir Raza Ali, saying the authorities had failed to protect the lives and property of citizens.
Condemning the incident, he said the Pakistan Peoples Party-led provincial government and the police had “completely failed” to ensure the safety of traders and ordinary citizens, saying that incidents of theft, robbery, kidnapping and other crimes continued to occur across the city on a daily basis.
He criticised official claims that crime had declined in Karachi, saying such assertions were inconsistent with the ground reality.
He demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the abduction and murder of Mir Raza Ali and urged the authorities to ensure exemplary punishment for the culprits. He also called for effective and practical measures to curb criminal activity and safeguard the lives and property of the public.
Speaking on the occasion, the victim’s father, Mir Hussain, said his only son had gone missing in the early hours of July 28 after leaving home, saying he would return shortly. He said the family later found his body in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
“My son had been running his own business for the past five years. He never came back. We only received his body,” he said, demanding the arrest and punishment of those responsible for the killing.
Jinnah Town Chairman Rizwan Abdul Samie and other JI leaders accompanied Monem Zafar during the visit.
