MQM demands of PM to delegate powers to local governments in 27th constitutional amendment

Islamabad: MQM has demanded of Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif to delegate powers to local governments in 27th constitutional amendment.

A 7-member MQM delegation led by convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui called on PM.

The delegation comprised governor Sindhg Kamran Khan Tessori, federal minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, MNAs including Dr Farooq Sattar, Javed Hanif Khan, Syed Amin ul Haq and Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan.

According to sources meeting was held in PM house and the two sides exchanged views on 27th constitutional amendment.

MQM delegation called for giving powers to local governments through 27th constitutional amendment.

As per media report the PM assured MQM delegation to include MQM local govt draft in 27th constitutional amendment.

MQM sources said PML-N will fully support its local bodies constitutional amendment draft in 27th constitutional amendment and this was party first priority in the meeting.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori said after meeting that PM took them into confidence on 27th constitutional amendment. PM made full consultation on constitutional amendment. Consultation was made with reference to inclusion of local bodies draft in the perspective of 27th constitutional amendment.
