Islamabad: In a powerful gathering commemorating sacrifice and resistance, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, and wife of incarcerated Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, paid profound tributes to Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani on his 9th Martyrdom Anniversary. The event, attended by activists, politicians, hurriyat leaders, lawyers, diplomats, and civil society, highlighted the enduring struggle for self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Mullick hailed Shaheed Burhan Wani as a "symbol of fearless resistance" whose martyrdom on July 8, 2016, ignited a new era of defiance against Indian oppression. She emphasized that Wani's legacy continues to inspire millions of Kashmiris fighting for their fundamental rights. "Burhan Wani's blood sown in the soil of Kashmir has blossomed into an unbreakable resolve for freedom," Mullick stated, condemning India's ongoing human rights abuses and calling for global intervention to halt the "genocide" in IlOJK.
Mushaal Hussein Mullick linked Wani's martyrdom to the plight of her husband, Mohammad Yasin Malik, who remains imprisoned in India on politically motivated charges. She decried India's tactics of silencing Kashmiri voices through arbitrary detentions and draconian laws, urging the international community to pressure New Delhi for Malik's release and a UN-supervised plebiscite in Kashmir. "From Burhan to Yasin, every Kashmiri martyr and prisoner embodies the indomitable spirit of a nation that refuses to surrender," she asserted.
The gathering also honored the valor of the Pakistan Armed Forces for Operation Bunyan Marsoos which defeated India and led towards a Ceasefire. Mullick praised the military's precision and sacrifice, stating,
"Operation Bunyan Marsoos stands as a testament to Pakistan's unwavering resolve in eradicating extremism and protecting its sovereignty at all costs. Our Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Pakistan armed forces are the guardians of peace, and their heroism fortifies our nation's resilience.I salute the immense sacrifices of Our forces and those martyred in the line of duty for the Nations wellbeing.'
Concluding the event, Mushaal Mullick called for intensified diplomatic and moral support for Kashmir, urging Pakistan to lead global advocacy efforts. She demanded India allow unfettered access to international human rights bodies in IlOJK and reaffirmed that the Kashmiri struggle would persist until justice is achieved. "The martyrs' blood demands nothing less than freedom," she declared, vowing to amplify the voices of the oppressed until Kashmir's right to self-determination is realized.
