Islamabad: According to the National Assembly Secretariat, 9th meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Ch. Mahmood Bashir Virk, MNA at 02:00 P.M. in Constitution Room (2nd Floor), Parliament House, Islamabad.

2) The meeting started with a recitation from the Holy Quran. The Honorable Chairman extended his heartfelt congratulations on the nomination of three members of the Committee as ministers. The committee then decided to proceed with the agenda. The committee approved the minutes of the previous meeting held on 9th January 2025

3) The Committee was briefed on the budgetary proposals related to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the Ministry of Law and Justice and its attached departments for the next financial year, 2025-26. After detailed deliberations, the Committee approved the first five projects and deferred the remaining ones for reconsideration

4) The Committee consider the Bill, the National Accountability (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Ordinance No.VI of 2024) (Government Bill); at the vary outset the ministry preferred to withdraw the same.

5) The Committee did not consider the Bill, The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2025" (Government Bill); and deferred the same till next meeting for detailed deliberations.

6) Due to paucity of time, Committee did not consider the Bills, The Qanun-e-Shahadat (Amendment) Bill, 2025" (moved by Ms. Shazia Marri, MNA) and The Constitution (Amendment) 8i11,2025" (Article-59) (moved by Mr. Naveed Aamir, MNA); and deferred the same till next meeting.

7) Hon. Members/MNAs, Ms. Zara Wadood Fatemi, Ms. Kiran Haider, Mr. Changaze Ahmad Khan, Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr. Nafeesa Shah, Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Mr. Umair Khan Niazi, Syed Hafeezuddin, Mr. Hassaan Sabir, Ms. Aliya Kamran, Mr. Sohail Sultan, Syed Ali Qasim Gillani, Minister for Law and Justice and Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice along with staff attended the meeting.
