NADRA launches a facial recognition-based biometric verification facility


Islamabad: NADRA has launched a facial recognition-based biometric verification facility, Launch of this facility has brought to end problems faced by elderly citizens and those with medical conditions in the matter of fingerprint authentication. NADRA has taken several steps under the directives of interior minister and Prime Minister.



Definition of biometric has been broadened by making amendments in national identity cards rules.



Facility of Facial recognition-based biometric verification has also been given on the Pak-ID mobile app.



From January 20, all NADRA centers will begin issuing.



Facial recognition-based biometric verification certificates will be issued from all NADRA centers from January 20 and the citizens will be able to obtain them for a nominal fee when required.



In the event of non verification of finger prints the citizen will go to nearest NADRA Registration centre. NADRA will issue a certificate on completion of proceedings regarding recognition of face.



This certificate will have photo, identity card number, name, father’s name unique tracking ID and QR code.



The certificate will be valid for 7 days.



NADRA is fully prepared to implement this system.
