New york: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has met United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres. During the meeting the two exchanged views on regional situation and international affairs.

Mediation efforts by Pakistan to end conflict also came under discussion.

UN Secretary General appreciated peace efforts by Pakistan and thanked for long term cooperation by Pakistan in maintaining global peace and security. Mohsin Naqvi said Field Marshal and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have played role to promote peace and stability. Pakistan under the leadership of Field Marshal and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, has taken effective measures for defusing regional tension and promotion of peace.

He stressed that realistic mandate, proper resources and full-fledged cooperation by international community is inevitable for success of UN peace missions.
