“National Assembly Spokesperson Rejects Hamid Raza’s Allegations on Adiala Jail Visit as Baseless.”

Islamabad: The spokesperson for the National Assembly has completely rejected and termed as baseless and contrary to facts the allegations made by Hamid Raza. He clarified that Adiala Jail falls within the jurisdiction and authority of the Punjab government, not the federal government.

In a strong response to Hamid Raza's statement regarding the visit of the Standing Committee on Human Rights to Adiala Jail, the spokesperson for the National Assembly stated that the National Assembly Secretariat had forwarded the matter of the committee's visit to Adiala Jail to the Punjab government. The final decision regarding granting permission for the visit would also be made by the Punjab government, not the federal government. The spokesperson firmly rejected Hamid Raza's allegations, calling them completely baseless and contrary to the facts.

The spokesperson further stated that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, had never stopped the Human Rights Committee from visiting Adiala Jail. Since Adiala Jail is under the jurisdiction of the Punjab government, the allegation that the Speaker had denied the committee permission is incorrect.

It is important to note that the Chairman of the National Assembly's Human Rights Committee had requested permission to visit Adiala Jail.
