Islamabad: The National Registration Examination (NRE) for foreign medical and dental graduates will be conducted nationwide on 14th December 2025, according to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM and DC). The examination will be overseen by the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, in accordance with PM and DC policy.

A total of 7,076 candidates have registered to appear, including 6,989 medical and 87 dental graduates. The examination will take place at four major venues: Islamabad/Rawalpindi (2,358 medical, 43 dental), Karachi (499 medical, 4 dental), Lahore (3,562 medical, 30 dental), and Peshawar (570 medical, 10 dental).

The NRE is mandatory for foreign-qualified graduates seeking medical or dental licensure in Pakistan. No candidate is eligible for provisional or permanent registration or independent practice until they successfully pass the examination. Candidates who clear both steps of the NRE will be issued registration certificates in line with legal provisions.

PM and DC has confirmed that all preparations for the exam have been completed. Candidates must report to their designated centers by 10:00 a.m., with the examination commencing at 12:00 p.m. Any violation of prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will result in disqualification.

PM and DC also advised parents and students considering medical or dental education abroad to enroll only in recognized, accredited, and PM and DC-approved institutions. Choosing unrecognized or low-standard colleges not only jeopardizes professional careers but also risks wasting financial resources and valuable time.
