Islamabad: The results of the National Registration Examination (NRE) Step-I for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), held on December 14, 2025, have been officially announced. The examination was conducted by the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, in accordance with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMandDC) policy.

NUMS was entrusted with all key stages of the equivalence examination, including paper setting, compilation, and declaration of final results. According to official statistics, a total of 7,076 candidates (6,993 medical and 83 dental) registered for the exam. Out of these, 7,012 candidates appeared, while 64 remained absent.

A total of 1,473 candidates passed the examination, including 1,467 medical and 6 dental candidates. The medical pass percentage stood at 21.17 percent, while the dental pass percentage was recorded at 7.23 percent.

As per PMandDC law, two NRE examinations for Foreign Medical Graduates are conducted each year. In the previous NRE held on June 25, 2025, 5,035 candidates registered, of whom 4,994 appeared. A total of 1,252 medical candidates passed the examination, with an overall medical pass percentage of 25.26 percent, while 41 candidates were absent.

PMandDC confirmed that the results have been uploaded on its official website, where candidates can check their pass or fail status using their designated numbers. Dates for the NRE Step-II clinical examination will be announced shortly. Candidates who qualify both steps will be issued provisional PMandDC registration certificates, enabling them to undertake house jobs in Pakistan or abroad.

PMandDC reiterated that the results have been declared strictly on merit and in line with international standards. The council also strongly advised parents and students to seek admission abroad only in recognized and quality medical and dental institutions, warning that enrollment in low-standard or unrecognized colleges risks both professional futures and financial resources.
