Islamabad: National Dialogue Committee (NDC) while resorting to Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought permission for meeting with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Adiala jail.

Committee has said they are highly concerned over the health and welfare of PTI founder due to prolonged ban on meeting with him.

The petition has been filed through advocate Faisal Farid in IHC.

The petitioners include former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, former governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Mehmood Maulvi and barrister Saif.

Interior secretary, home secretary Punjab and superintendent Adiala jail have been made respondents in the petition.

The petition said being the friends of Imran Khan the petitioners have grave concern over deteriorating health condition of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

It was alleged that attitude of jail authorities is not appropriate and unnecessary hindrances are being created in meetings.

According to petition the family members, friends and close relatives are not being allowed to meet him.

The committee told the court the ban on the meetings with Imran Khan is giving rise to rumors and speculations in social media and unrest is on rise at public level.

It is essential for the sake of political stability, supremacy of constitution and national reconciliation that welfare of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi be reviewed by holding a direct meeting with them.

It has been said in the petition ban on meeting is violation of article 9 and 14 of constitution and Pakistan Prison Rules 1978.

This too is against UN Nelson Mandela rules which protect the basic rights of prisoners.

The committee has requested the court to issue order to superintendent Adiala jail for arranging meeting of delegation of National Dialogue committee with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in jail.

It was also said in the petition that proper time be fixed for meeting so that health, welfare and matters of legal protection of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi could be reviewed.
