No compromise will be made on security of polio workers: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said no compromise will be made on security of polio workers.

"Unfortunately number of polio affected children is on rise in the country. More joint efforts are needed in this regard. No compromise will be made on safety and security of polio workers. Special focus be placed on making polio campaigns result oriented, he said this during his meeting with polio team here Monday.

PM Coordinator Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Bhirth, PM focal person for anti polio Ayesha Raza Farooq, federal secretary national health Nadim Mehboob, senator Anwar ul Haq and others were present on the occasion.

Bill Gates wrote me letter wherein he had lauded the day in and day night efforts of polio workers and ongoing polio campaign in Pakistan. We are grateful to Bill Gates Foundation and all national and international partners as due to cooperation of them important steps are being taken in health sector in the country.

He directed that organized roster be set up in respect of visits of respective persons to more affected areas of polio during polio campaign so that these campaigns could be made more result oriented.

Use of technology is being enhanced in all sectors of health including anti polio, he added.

PM was given briefing regarding ongoing polio campaign and its results.

PM was told that polio campaign is being made success with the help of locals.
