No proposal is under consideration for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui in exchange for Imran Khan: FO

Islamabad: Foreign Office (FO) while refuting the reports that any proposal is under consideration for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui detained in US in exchange for Imran Khan has said FO is not aware of any such proposal.

Pakistan is determined for the security of its people. Security agencies are conducting forceful operations against terrorists groups. 2024 was an active year for diplomacy. Relations with Arab, African and European countries improved. Positive talks continued with Afghan authorities for elimination of safe havens of terrorists. Pakistan highlighted Palestine and Kashmir issues forcefully at international forums. .

This was said by FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in her weekly press briefing here Thursday.

The outgoing year 2024 remained an active year for Pakistan's diplomatic and foreign policy landscape, marked by enhanced regional and global ties.

She said our diplomatic efforts throughout the year were aimed at increasing Pakistan's international profile and enhancing relations with countries in all regions of the world.

She said frequent high-level exchanges during the year amplified our efforts as visits with Azerbaijan, China, Belarus, Belgium, Egypt, the United kingdom, Turkiye, Iran, Jordan, Russia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and others helped develop important understandings with these countries.

Pakistan raised voice against genocide in Ghaza. Pakistan raised voice for Palestine on different forums. Pakistan participated in the hearing by international court of justice on Ghaza situation.

Pakistan was elected non permanent member of UN Security Council for next year with overwhelming majority.

FO Spokesperson welcomed the decision of international court of justice with reference to genocide by Israel in Ghaza.

Pakistan raised voice for Kashmir on respective forums in 2024 besides demanding for release of Kashmiri human rights activist and others.

She held Pakistan was elected chief of international atomic energy commission and UN Disarmament.

Pakistan condemns ban imposed by India on political parties in Occupied Kashmir.

Reacting to US presidential envoy for special mission Richard Grenell statement she said Pakistan has always remained desirous of constructive relations with US. We will offer no comment if some one is giving statement in one's personal capacity.

She hoped Afghanistan will stop its soil from being used against Pakistan. Taliban are threat for security of region. Pakistan respects sovereignty of Afghanistan.
