Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif while taking notice of non functionality/non availability of facility of CT Coronary Angiography in PIMS hospital Islamabad has constituted inquiry committee to determine facts.
PM has directed the committee to take review of all the aspects of matter , fix responsibility and present its report to him.
Secretary establishment division will be chairman of the committee. The other members will include secretary national health services, regulations and coordination division, B rig doctor Jahanzeb Ali (AFIC), Dr Nasrutallh Chaudhry professor Nadim Hayat Malik, Brig (Retd) Dr Azmat Hayat (PIMS), Mr Umar Farooq CT Angio technician AFIC.
Committee will be authorized to include any other member as per requirement.
The committee will review this matter the technical capability for conducting CT coronary angiography facility was available in PIMS since 2022. If it was available then the required technical facilities, human resources and soft ware were available to what extent.
Committee will review the procedure of CT Coronary angiography conducted so far in PIMS since 2022, their number , dates and nature of procedure. All the respective documentary evidence including record of the said hospital will be reviewed.
Committee will review any formal referral mechanism, mutual coordination and role of administration in connection with CT coronary Angiography between cardiology and radiology departments.
Committee will too review were the patients of cardiology department referred to private health centers as usual for CT coronary angiogram. If it was done then which specific private health center was given priority and as a result the direction of how much financial business was turned from government hospital to private health centers .
Committee will also review the loss caused to public interest due to lack of any coordination, maladministration, misconception . It will fix responsibility on officers and officers.
Committee will review other aspects related to the matter too.
PM has directed committee should submit report after complete scrutiny of the related facts and record so that more legal proceedings could be initiated in the matter as per rules and law.
National Health Services, Regulations and coordination division will provide assistance to committee during inquiry.
