Lahore: Non holding Local Bodies (LB) polls in Punjab has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).
A petition in this regard was filed by JI Lahore Amir Zia ud Din Ansari through advocate Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali Thursday.
Federal government , election commission and others have been made respondents in the petition.
The petition said as per constitution of Pakistan , non holding local government election hurts the accountability. Non holding local government election leads to end local responsibility.
Feudal class is on rise and poor segments of society are getting further weaker due to non holding local government election.
It was requested in the petition that court should direct respondents to hold local bodies election within 90 days in Punjab.
Penalty be imposed on respondents for showing negligence in constitutional obligations.
