Lahore: During the hearing of the case against non payment of group insurance to Punjab government employees during their life in Lahore High Court (LHC) chief secretary Punjab has made disclosure the payments of pension can be affected in future.

The court expressed resentment over it.

The case regarding non payment of group insurance to government employees in life came up before a three members full bench of LHC presided over by Justice Shujaat Ali Khan Thursday.

Chief secretary Punjab and Advocate General Punjab appeared on the order of court.

Noshab A Khan counsel for the petitioners took the plea group insurance is paid to the employees in their lifetime in other provinces. One has to die to become eligible for insurance in Punjab. This legal vacuum is violation of basic rights. Court should order government to pay group insurance to the employees in their lifetime .

Chief secretary told the court as per court's order we will review the matter again and present the report. Pension load has gone up higher. May be pension has to be ceased within some years.

Justice Shujaat Ali Khan head of the full bench remarked chief secretary is threatening the court too that may be pension is not paid to us. Whatever is meant to happen to us, let it happen. We have to think about people.

Justice Sultan Tanvir remarked chief secretary himself is upset perhaps pension may not be paid to him too.

Judges made it clear during the hearing of the case court's proceeding is for the betterment of province and employees. Country and system cannot run without the employees. Three provinces are giving this benefit and federation too is semi willing. If the hardships of the employees are not allayed then the system will not be able to run.

Advocate General admitted no work can be done without the employees.

The court directed chief secretary to work out soluble proposals practically. Detailed report be filed in the court.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case.
