Islamabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Nasir Abbas walked out of the House during Senate proceedings after repeated interventions by the Deputy Chairman Senate during his speech.
Speaking in the House, Raja Nasir Abbas said that a vote is a sacred trust and any manipulation of it amounts to betrayal.
He stated that there was a time when feelings of deprivation among the people of Gilgit-Baltistan were intense and claimed that concerns continue to exist regarding local rights and resources.
The opposition leader also referred to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that restrictions on media create uncertainty and speculation among the public.
He criticized what he described as changing political narratives, remarking that individuals who were engaged in dialogue one day were being labelled as traitors the next.
Raja Nasir Abbas said people in Gilgit-Baltistan complain that their resources are being taken over and alleged that issues were being addressed through force rather than dialogue.
He also referred to the detention of the PTI founding chairman and raised concerns regarding the security situation and curfew-related restrictions in Kurram District.
During his speech, the Deputy Chairman Senate intervened and advised that objections regarding election results should be taken to the relevant election tribunals.
Following repeated interruptions by the Deputy Chairman, Raja Nasir Abbas staged a walkout from the Senate chamber. Members belonging to PTI also walked out in protest against the Deputy Chairman's remarks.
