Islamabad: Opposition leaders in Senate and National Assembly (NA) have written separate letters to chairman Senate and Speaker National Assembly (NA) for constitution of parliamentary party in connection with appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

According to sources Opposition leader in NA Umar Ayoub has written letter to speaker NA on the matter of appointment of members and CEC demanding constitution of parliamentary committee for appointment of members and CEC.

On the other hand opposition leader in Senate Senator Shibli Faraz has written letter to chairman Senate on the matter of appointment of new CEC, member Sindh and Balochistan.

Shibli Faraz has demanded for establishment of parliamentary committee regarding appointment of CEC.

It has been said in the letter that the tenure of CEC Sikandar Sultan is going to expire under article 215. Tenure of Sikandar Sultan Raja will expire on January 26. Parliamentary committee be formed to meet the constitutional requirement under article 213 of the constitution.

CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja, members Sindh and Balochistan are going to retire on January 26.
