PAC directs to publish name of provincial government officers beneficiary of BISP, effect recovery from them

Islamabad: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed to publish name of officers above grade 15 from provincial governments have who have benefited from Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) besides making recovery from them.

Members of committee expressed strong reservations over the letter written by chairman WAPDA during meeting of PAC held under its chairman Junaid Akbar Khan here Tuesday.

It was decided to constitute subcommittee on the matter of chairman WAPDA letter.

The committee reviewed audit objections related to PISP for the financial year 2022-23 and 2223-24.

The meeting was attended by members of PAC, secretary BISP, Auditor General (AG) and others.

Member PAC Omar Ayub Khan said following tendering of apology by FESCO employees who raided home of member of PAC Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel he forgives them. This has not remained now the individual issue of Sana Ullah Masti Khel and we will not rest content till it is resolved.

We are elected representatives of people and this is not insult of an individual but it is degradation of an institution. Chairman WAPDA be called first on this matter.

Chairman PAC Junaid Akbar Khan said all members were on one page on this issue. It was decided when chairman returned then a sub committee would be constituted.

He said a letter had come from office of chairman WAPDA and I have many reservations on this letter.

He pointed out that secretary had offered apology from his side on this matter. FESCO chief too has apologized. Whatever is decision of sub committee will be the decision of our committee.

The committee also reviewed audit objection in respect of accounts of ministry of poverty alleviation and social security.

Chairman Committee said when he went to open account on the occasion of polls then it was said you are politician and you cannot open account. Later I gave affidavit and even then account was not opened.

PAC member 0mar Ayub Khan said stick has been kept for politicians only in Pakistan and not for some one else.

Member committee `Moin Amir Pirzada said bank does not issue credit cards to most of MNAs and MPAs.

The audit told with reference to objection related to payment of BISP amount of Rs 8 crore 98 lac to spouses of government employees and pensioners that 2235 spouses of government employees and 704 spouses of pensioners were obtaining amount against unconditional cash transfer.
