Pak remains committed to peace, stability & following of int’l norms, but will not compromise on its sovereignty: Mohsin Naqvi

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi visited the Directorate General of Civil Defence and reviewed the measures to tackle any emergency situation. He inspected the Directorate General of Civil Defence office and met with the staff.

Interior Minister said that the Directorate General of Civil Defence system will be made fully operational in view of the prevailing tense situation. He stated that the capacity of the Civil Defence department will be enhanced, all necessary measures must be ensured to deal with any unforeseen circumstances. He added that awareness campaigns for public should be conducted throughout the year.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the cunning enemy may take any step to cover up his intelligence failures. He asserted that Civil Defence is ready to handle any unpleasant incident. He instructed to ensure effective liaison and cooperation with provincial Civil Defence departments through a central desk. He emphasized that the Civil Defence has pivotal role of in both the times of peace and conflict.

On this occasion, Civil Defence In-Charge Amir Khan gave a detailed briefing about the institution. Federal Secretary for Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha was also present on the occasion.

It was apprised that providing strong civil support during wartime and boosting public morale are among the department's responsibilities. During peacetime, training programs and awareness sessions are held for citizens to prepare them for emergencies. Every year, nearly 250 courses are conducted across the country in 10 Civil Defence training institutes.

Mohsin Naqvi said that in the light of the recent incident, Pakistan officially demands a transparent and impartial investigation to check the facts surrounding the Indian attack. Given the current situation and historical context, Pakistan has serious reservations regarding India's credibility in conducting a fair inquiry.

Mohsin Naqvi said that we call for a neutral and independent body to lead the inquiry. Pakistan is fully prepared to cooperate with any neutral investigators to ensure that the truth is uncovered and justice is served.
