Islamabad: Finance Minister (FM) Muhammad Aurangzeb has said Pakistan has raised 3 billion dollars through Euro bonds. Pakistan has issued a three-billion-dollar bond. He said this while speaking at the High-Level International Dialogue on Taxation for Fiscal Sustainability in Pakistan organized by Asian Development Bank (ADB), in Islamabad Thursday. He said this 3 billion Euro bond is single largest bond transaction in the history of Pakistan. Issuance of Euro Bond is manifestation of trust of world rating agencies on Pakistan.
He said betterment has come in Pakistan rating three times since April 2025. Tax net is being expanded. We are pursuing comprehensive reforms in tax system. Tax recovery has witnessed marked improvement as a result of reforms. He said investors from Asia, Middle East, Europe and US have shown interest in Euro bond. The confidence of international investors has restored again on Pakistan economy. The confidence of international investors is on the future of Pakistan as well with the current situation.
Five years and 10 years Euro Bonds fetched better price. Launching Euro bond of 3 billion dollars is not a temporary or a sudden decision. Euro bond is part of 3-year midterm GMTN strategy. He observed there is strategy of enhancing maturities in external financing and reducing roll over risk. He said the tax to GDP ratio has increased from 8.1 percent to 10.3 percent, stressing that there is more to do in this regard Pakistan is diversifying foreign financing through sukuk, dollar settled bonds and Panda bonds.
