Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan Foreign Office has been closely following the situation concerning the Sumud Flotilla and taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of our nationals.

In a statement issued on X on Friday, Ishaq Dar said that according to our latest feedback, only former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan remains in Israeli detention. Over the past 36 hours, we have been actively engaged in diplomatic outreach, including through friendly countries, to ensure the safety and early return of all our nationals.

Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan strongly condemns the interception and obstruction of the peaceful Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli occupying forces in international waters while en route to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, and calls for the immediate release of all detained.

Meanwhile Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on Friday to review donor assistance pledged for the 2022 floods.

The Committee expressed satisfaction with ongoing efforts but decided to reconvene shortly to monitor the progress of development assistance pledged by multilateral and bilateral partners for humanitarian relief, early recovery, and reconstruction, ensuring its timely and effective implementation.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, the Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, the Minister for Economic Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa and Advisor on Privatization and senior officials from relevant ministries.
