Islamabad: Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tahir Andrabi has said Pakistan is fully determined for promotion of peace, dialogue and diplomacy in the region.
He said in weekly press briefing that Pakistan is continuing efforts for regional peace and respecting the norms of sovereignty of all states and principle of equality.
Pakistan stance is very clear that durable peace in the region is possible only due to dialogue and diplomacy.
He held Pakistan believes in dialogue between the countries and diplomacy for peace. Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) is in contact with foreign ministers of region and other countries. Pakistan is playing its role for peace in the region. Chinese foreign minister has commended Pakistan constructive role and stressed on importance of durable ceasefire and dialogue.
He said we reject the CBS News report on presence of Iranian aircrafts in Pakistan. We have seen US senator Lindsey Graham statement. This statement was issued before our refutation and after CBS news report. Our statement was issued a bit later due to difference in time. However our statement reflects all the real situation in clear terms.
He said Pakistan reiterates its role of mediator to end the tension. Peace process is underway. We are in contact with both sides. US-Iran peace process is still underway. .
We have urged Afghanistan to stop terrorism from its land. The voices echoing for talks in India are positive movement forward. We are looking forward to positive reaction from Indian government on these voices. Track -2 or back door contacts between Pakistan and India are not in my knowledge.
He said Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif made telephonic contacts with leadership of Qatar and Azerbaijan last week. Regional situation and peace efforts came under discussion in telephonic talks.
He further told Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) senator Ishaq Dar met with special representative of UN Secretary General on Middle East .Peace and stability in the region and Pakistan diplomatic efforts were appreciated in the meeting.
He said Pakistan is continuing contacts with different sides for de-escalation and promotion of talks in the region. This includes particularly diplomatic role for defusing tension between US and Iran.
He said Pakistan will remain in close contact with all stake holders for promotion of peace, security and diplomatic contacts.
