Islamabad: Pakistan and India have exchanged lists of prisoners.
The two countries handed over lists of prisoners to respective authorities simultaneously in Islamabad and New Delhi.
In foreign office Islamabad, list of Indian citizens imprisoned in Pakistani jails was provided to representative of Indian High Commission. Like wise list of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails was handed over to representative of Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi.
According to list provided by India 463 Pakistani citizens are kept in Indian jails. These include such prisoners too who are waiting for their release still despite completion of their prison term due to legal complications.
The exchange of prisoners list between two countries is part of annual diplomatic process which is aimed at making the matters of prisoners transparent on humanitarian grounds besides making possibilities better of their early release.
