Rawalpindi: A high-level defence delegation of Indonesia, led by Indonesian Minister of Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, on Monday held a meeting with Federal Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj and senior officials of the Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) in Rawalpindi.During the meeting, the Federal Minister stated that Pakistan considers Indonesia a close friend and a brotherly Muslim nation. He noted that recent high-level interactions between the two countries had set the pace for a productive and high-yielding bilateral relationship. Highlighting Pakistan's vast potential in the field of defence production, he expressed agreement on the establishment of Joint Working Groups to enhance defence production cooperation between relevant entities of both countries.Lt Gen (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin expressed keen interest in expediting the formation of the Joint Working Groups, stating that these would open new avenues for future collaboration and enable both sides to explore and benefit from each other's defence capabilities.Federal Minister Raza Harraj said that the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia is marked by mutual trust, respect and goodwill. He also extended an invitation to Indonesian authorities to actively participate in the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2026 to further explore opportunities for defence collaboration.The Indonesian Defence Minister, on behalf of his delegation, thanked the Federal Minister for the warm hospitality and termed Pakistan an important country with a rich culture, a working democracy and a vibrant economy. Both sides expressed hope that the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Indonesia would translate into a long-term partnership based on mutual trust and respect.
