Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have agreed on enhancing collaboration in the areas of anti terrorism and anti drugs and forging cooperation for preventing illegal immigration and human trafficking.

The resolve was expressed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni at a meeting in Islamabad.

Iranian interior minister Eskandar Momeni visited interior ministry and Interior minister Mohsin Naqvi warmly received him. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Federal Constabulary presented a guard of honor to the visiting minister. Senior officials from both countries were also introduced during the welcoming ceremony

The need for adopting a joint stance to prevent drug trafficking and terrorism from the Afghan border was emphasised.

Both the interior ministers expressed their resolve to further strengthen bilateral relations and enhance mutual trade. They also decided to improve coordination mechanisms to further enhance bilateral cooperation.

Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in all fields.He said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni have made exceptional efforts for peace. He hoped that good news will emerge and peace will prevail.

He said Pakistan is fully prepared for further bolstering cooperation in all fields.

The Iranian delegation included the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan, the deputy interior minister, the deputy minister for urban development and transport, the head of the National Iranian Oil Company, the special representative of Iran's agriculture minister and other senior officials.
